This helmet is xl, I don't think of myself as a xl sized head, however the large wouldn't fit over my head. I really love this helmet, wore it for 3 hours on a trip, gotta love the adjustable chin and forehead vents. Highly recommend. Not as expensive as many, but you won't notice any loss of quality.
