Excellent for safety! I love it.

This is my helmet that I wear everyday when I ride. I like it a lot for many reasons. Its extremely safe since it is both DOT and Snell approved. Snell being the higher standard and also conforming to their newest standards now too. Also, it is white which, aside from hi-viz yellow, is the most visible color for a helmet. (I considered the hi-viz made by scorpion but just could not bring myself to looking like a traffic cone) I also added some black racing stripes that are checkered and reflective so its not just a plain white helmet. Its my third HJC and I'll continue to buy them till they are proven inferior to the more expensive brands. Super comfortable with minimal wind noise. I liked the fog-free face shield but didn't like wearing sunglasses all the time so I switched it for a dark tinted shield. Super easy to switch! I ride at all speeds with it just cracked open at the bottom. Its not a setting but you just don't lock the shield down all the way. This lets air in to assist the upper and lower vents and keeps me cool in 80+ degree weather. So far, I've had this for about two months and I love it. I've had no pressure points anywhere on my head while wearing it for over an hour at a time. My wife followed me once and remarked that the white color really stands out in traffic so I'm extremely pleased. I highly recommend this helmet and other HJC helmets as the smart mans alternative to paying too much for a helmet. Don't get suckered in by that old line that "only buy cheap helmets if your head is cheap" ...yada yada Well, you don't have to pay hundreds. Just buy an HJC and spend the rest on gas...another subject for another time...Ride safe!

Fantastic helmet at a fantastic price.

After reading and watching countless reviews for budget helmets that offer Snell 2010 protection, this particular helmet came out on the top of my list. I went ahead and purchased it and upon several uses, I must say that I am extremely pleased so far. First, you must measure your head and purchase the correct size according to HJC's sizing chart. If the size isn't correct, any helmet will be uncomfortable. Usually I am a medium, but according to HJC, I need a small. So I purchase the small and it fits like a glove. The padding is secure on my cheeks and feels comfortable. It is a removable insert which is washable which is a huge plus especially after some sweaty autocrossing. The helmet feels durable and not cheap like a standard DOT helmet. It has the Snell 2010 protection so I know it will protect me in an accident. The lens flips down and up with easy, and has an easy locking mechanism. The lens is clear and scratch resistant, and an extra anti-fogging lens cover was surprisingly included in the package which is an awesome bonus. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the quality of this helmet which completely matches my expectations I developed when researching previous reviews.

I typically wear an XL helmet, but I ordered a large after checking HJC's sizing chart and it fits perfectly. Make sure you check the HJC chart before ordering. I have a funny shaped head, but this couldn't have fit better. It has good padding and is comfortable even for long rides. The optical quality of the visor is very good and the helmet breathes well. I was impressed with how nice the helmet looked after unboxing. It looks like a much more expensive helmet. This is one of the best value helmets being both snell and DOT certified. I just took it on an hour long ride today and i couldn't be more satisfied. The visor didn't fog and the helmet was still comfortable.

I noticed other reviewers saying mainly two negative things about this helmet - being heavy and too loud.
this helmet is definitely louder than my open face helmet. It may not be as light as a carbon fiber helmet, but it is not heavy at all in my opinion. In fact, it is lighter than my open f ace helmet.

Update as of 5/10/13
I've been wearing this helmet for almost a month now. I've used it in light to moderate rain and no water got in. I only have one complaint and that is that it is slightly uncomfortable if you're wearing sunglasses inside the helmet for extended periods.
